BEATLES BRUNCH IN NEW YORK

What: Strawberry Fields: A Tribute to the Beatles is a traveling show featuring a look-alike, sound-alike Beatles tribute band. Performing to audiences of all ages, the act has travelled all over, including a recreation of the Beatles’ own historic concert at Shea Stadium.

Where: Manasquan Reservoir, Howell

What: These 45-minute tours of the Manasquan Reservoir, Howell, are narrated by Park System Naturalists and include opportunities to view local wildlife. Plan to arrive at the Visitor Center 10 minutes early. The cost is adults: $5.61; children 12 & under: $3.50 (tax not included). What: Jersey Shore Jewish Music will be presenting its first concert “One People Many Voices: Celebrating a World of Jewish Music”. This eclectic concert unites Monmouth County’s diverse groups of Jewish heritage into an extravaganza of world music featuring Syrian, Ladino (Judeo-Spanish) and Klezer song traditions. Israeli and Middle Eastern singer Yohai Cohen, backed by an Arabic music ensemble, is the evening’s featured soloist.  Also featured is the Jersey Shore’s own Shir Mishugas Jewish music group.  Cantor, composer and conductor Jeffrey DiLucca leads Shir Mishugas in Ladino songs and in Klezmner music originating in the Ashkenazi Jewish communities of Eastern Europe. Distance Running Clinic

Modern Vietnam: A Fulbright Scholar’s Perspective

Where: New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center, Exit 116, Garden State Parkway, Holmdel, NJ

Details: Genovese was a recipient of a Fulbright award to Vietnam in 2011. Since returning home, she has made a mission of sharing her experiences in hopes of creating a better understanding of and future for the two countries. During this time, she was able to experience and learn about present day Vietnam and its fast-paced movement towards modernization. Her presentation offers perspectives on modern Vietnam. Stomp the Monster 5K Run & Festival

Did you know that Marlboro Township is home to one of the most productive fossil sites in the East? Come join Dr. Paul Kovalski, Jr. (an expert in the field) and Lynne of Marlboro Recreation for an amazing time. Search for sharks’ teeth, Belemnite, Exogyra (500-year-old Clamshells) Vertebra and much, much more! See and learn first hand what lived here when New Jersey was part of the ocean floor. Bring a strainer, small shovel, and a plastic bag for your finds and the desire to dig. Bring a towel to help you clean up and sit in the car going home. Wear old clothing, boots if desired; and be prepared to get WET! We’re heading down into a creek bed. Mayor Hornik’s Invitational Softball Tournament

When: June 8, 2013 All day (rain date June 9)

Details: This is the first year of the annual tournament designed to raise money for deserving charities. This year the tournament is raising money for Hurricane Sandy Relief and the Andrew Hegt Memorial Fund. The tournament is open to any group or organization affiliated with Marlboro Township. A group or individual that cannot form a full team should submit their interest and we will work with you to combine teams. Families are also invited to attend. The event will be at the Union Hill Road recreation complex. Marlboro Township Summer Camp 2013

Looking to send your kids to camp this summer?

Summer Camp Registration will be on-line beginning February 15th! Preview and set up your account beginning February 1st by clicking here. Look for our new before and/or after care programs for all age groups!

Marlboro Township’s Recreation Summer Day Camp is a six-week program, open Monday through Friday, approximately 9:00AM to 3:00PM.

Our program is located primarily in the Board of Education Schools throughout the township. The Day Camp serves children currently in grades K-6, with each school servicing one grade level. For safety consideration, each school has a maximum enrollment capacity.

Travel Camp
For children that are currently in 7th or 8th grade, Marlboro Recreation offers Travel Camps. Campers will spend five weeks visiting some of the Tri-State Area’s most exciting attractions. Campers will be transported via coach buses to enjoy summertime fun. They will spend their days at water and amusement parks, taking in sporting events, visiting some of Jersey’s beautiful beaches and so much more!

Theater & Arts Camp [Current Grades 4th-8th]
Bring your talent and creativity to the stage. Join our summer camp that offers the chance to experience every aspect of theater. Whether you can sing and dance, act or want to be behind the scenes doing lighting, sound and set design, you can do a little bit of everything. Each of the two sessions will produce a unique production and art display for friends and family.

H20 Swim (7th Week) [Current Grades K-6th]
Add a seventh week to your child’s camp program. Held exclusively at the Aquatic Center. Participants will spend a fun filled week swimming, playing games and sports, arts, and crafts and more! Campers will go on two half day trips!

New for 2013: Before & After Camp!

Pre-Camp: M-F 7am-8:45am
This program is to be held solely at the recreation center. Parents are responsible to get children to the recreation center. Transportation included to bring children from Rec Center to respective camp locations. Grades K-6.

After Camp: M-F 3pm-6pm
Children will be bussed back to the recreation center at the end of the camp day. Grades K-8 eligible. Snack will be included.
