USA Pride Walk is collecting Valentine’s Day cards to send to our deployed soldiers overseas. Cards should be dropped off at American Legion Post 434, 11 Sanford Street in Manalapan. The cards will be sent by A.R.M.S. (American Recreational Military Services) with other supplies to soldiers serving overseas. A wonderful family project on one of these cold winter days!

Distance Running Clinic

Where: Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Rd, Lincroft, NJ

Details: 90 minute distance running clinic that will cover training, running form, distance drills, and injury prevention with a Q+A session at the end. Come dressed to participate in the drills and bring a water bottle. The clinic will be led by Chris Bennett of CBA, and we will have a few special guests helping out. Modern Vietnam: A Fulbright Scholar’s Perspective

Where: New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial and Vietnam Era Museum & Educational Center, Exit 116, Garden State Parkway, Holmdel, NJ

Details: Genovese was a recipient of a Fulbright award to Vietnam in 2011. Since returning home, she has made a mission of sharing her experiences in hopes of creating a better understanding of and future for the two countries. During this time, she was able to experience and learn about present day Vietnam and its fast-paced movement towards modernization. Her presentation offers perspectives on modern Vietnam. Come join Dr. Paul Kovalski, Jr. (an expert in the field) and Lynne of Marlboro Recreation for an amazing time. Search for sharks’ teeth, Belemnite, Exogyra (500-year-old Clamshells) Vertebra and much, much more! See and learn first hand what lived here when New Jersey was part of the ocean floor. Bring a strainer, small shovel, and a plastic bag for your finds and the desire to dig. Bring a towel to help you clean up and sit in the car going home. Wear old clothing, boots if desired; and be prepared to get WET! We’re heading down into a creek bed. Mayor Hornik’s Invitational Softball Tournament

Details: This is the first year of the annual tournament designed to raise money for deserving charities. A group or individual that cannot form a full team should submit their interest and we will work with you to combine teams. Families are also invited to attend. The event will be at the Union Hill Road recreation complex. Place: Tenafly Nature Center, Tenafly, NJ
What: By the light of the full moon, experience a guided 2-hour walk through the lost Brook Preserve. The hike is approximately 1½ miles. This tranquil, meditative hike encourages reflection and connection with nature while experiencing the trails in a new way. Recommended for adults. Please bring a flashlight. In case of inclement weather the program will be postponed to the following month. Pre-registration required.

Spring Soccer in Marlboro, NJ

Spring 2013 registration for Marlboro Soccer is still open! The Marlboro Soccer Association administers both Recreation and Travel Soccer programs for boys and girls from Kindergarten through High School in the town of Marlboro, NJ. If you would like to register your child you may do so at the Rec Center, Monday – Thursday during REC Center hours. Registration will close on February 15th.

Registration Fees:

  • Recreation Fee $75
  • Travel Fee $225
