Bike and Stroll with Mayor Hornik

Where: The Bicycle Hub, 239 Route 79, Morganville (meeting location)

Details: Join Mayor Hornik at the 5th Annual Marlboro Mayor’s Ice Cream Bike and Stroll. Ride or walk on the safe and scenic Henry Hudson Trail followed by a refreshing treat. Presented by: The Bicycle Hub of Marlboro, Stewarts Root Beer, Monmouth County Park System, Marlboro Township Green Team.

Stomp the Monster 5K Run & Festival

When: June 2, 2013 8:00 am

Where: Marlboro, New Jersey

Details: Dedicated to helping those affected by cancer when they need it most. Early packet pick-up option, flat, fast course. Post-race party will include: beer garden, tech shirts, swag bags, DJs night moves and twist and shout, lunch by Jersey Mike’s, homemade ice cream, raffle prizes. Fun for kids includes bounce house, rolling arcade, and more. Awards by age group, top three overall runners will win $300, $200, and $100. Register now at

Where: Vanderburg Soccer Complex, Vanderburg and Boundry road (we will meet in the soccer parking lot)

Details: With Dr. Paul Kovalski, Jr. and Marlboro Recreation. For ages 4 and up (Parents MUST accompany children). Did you know that Marlboro Township is home to one of the most productive fossil sites in the East? Come join Dr. Paul Kovalski, Jr. (an expert in the field) and Lynne of Marlboro Recreation for an amazing time. Search for sharks’ teeth, Belemnite, Exogyra (500-year-old Clamshells) Vertebra and much, much more! See and learn first hand what lived here when New Jersey was part of the ocean floor. Bring a strainer, small shovel, and a plastic bag for your finds and the desire to dig. Bring a towel to help you clean up and sit in the car going home. Wear old clothing, boots if desired; and be prepared to get WET! We’re heading down into a creek bed. Sign up for this and all other classes and programs at – “Fossil Hunting is under Family Programs”. Fee is $13 for resident and $16 for nonresident.


Flag Day Celebration

When: June 5, 2013 4:00 pm – 4:45 pm

Where: Colts Neck Library, 1 Winthrop Rd, Colts Neck, NJ

Details: Wear red, white and blue then join us for stories about the American flag and make you own flag craft. Admission is Free! Ages K and up.


Mayor Hornik’s Invitational Softball Tournament

When: June 8, 2013 All day (rain date June 9)

Where: Union Hill Road, Marlboro, NJ


Details: This is the first year of the annual tournament designed to raise money for deserving charities. This year the tournament is raising money for Hurricane Sandy Relief and the Andrew Hegt Memorial Fund. The tournament is open to any group or organization affiliated with Marlboro Township. A group or individual that cannot form a full team should submit their interest and we will work with you to combine teams. Families are also invited to attend. The event will be at the Union Hill Road recreation complex. For more information or to register, please send an e-mail to $350.00 is the cost for a team, but games are free to watch.
